Dear ETNA members,

As we are approaching the end of another year,  I would like to send you all my best season’s greetings. This time of the year there are a number of religious festivals, such as, Hanukkah, Xmas, Pancha Ganapati, Zarathosht Diso, and non religious festivals, such as, the Solstice and HumanLight. May you all have a meaningful time to celebrate and reflect. I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy, health and fulfilled New Year 2020.

2019 has been a busy year for the ETNA. We had a very successful conference in the Czech Republic, The University of South Bohemia, in June where around 120 people from all over the world gathered to present, discuss, ponder, listen, participate, etc on matters relating to the conference theme: “THE NURSING CURRICULUM NEEDS A CULTURAL REVOLUTION: THE WHY, THE HOW, THE WHAT AND THE WHEN OF A GLOBAL CULTURALLY COMPETENT CURRICULUM”. We also had a lot of fun and opportunities to learn about the Czech culture. I want to thank Professor Valeria Tothova and her team for all the hard work associated in hosting the conference. It was FABULOUS!

At the AGM, the ETNA Board decided that we should organise an event to celebrate the International Year of Nursing and Midwifery 2020. So the work for a 2020 conference began straight after the 2019 conference. Dr Maria Jose Morales and Dr Epifania Medina Artiles from the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, have agreed to host the 7th ETNA conference ‘ Celebrating Excellence in Transcultural Nursing’.  I thank them very much and look forward to being there during 25-28 June 2020.  We are now accepting abstract submissions. Please join us in what promises to be an exciting conference. You can find all the info at https://conferenciaenfermeriatranscultural.ulpgc.es/

In 2020 ETNA will be celebrating its 15th anniversary. To help us mark the occasion the ETNA Board has decided to raise some money through donations from its members and their friends and colleagues. Please consider making a donation and sharing our Paypal link https://www.paypal.me/ETNADonations with your friends and colleagues.

Sending you my warmest season’s greetings as well as my best wishes for the New Year 2020.

With sincere regards,

Professor Irena Papadopoulos
President of ETNA
